Laser Tattoo Removal

Do you regret your tattoo? Have you outgrown its meaning? Is your tattoo affecting your career or relationship? We can help! Since 2004, Allure Cosmetic Medical Center has been a leader in Northeast Florida for Laser Tattoo Removal. We are experienced with all skin types and we aim to give you the best cosmetic result possible.  View examples of our work here.

Q. How Does It Work?
Our laser emits a beam of light that passes safely through the outer layer of the skin to be absorbed by the tattoo ink. As the laser light is absorbed, it is converted to heat. This sudden rise in temperature within the tattoo causes the ink to break into tiny particles that white blood cells will then carry away to be naturally eliminated by the body.

Q. What Kinds of Tattoos Can Be Treated?
Tattoos of any size and color can be treated. In general, most tattoos can be successfully removed given a sufficient number of treatments are done.

Q. Does It Hurt?
The sensation of the laser pulses is often described as feeling like “heated rubber band snaps.” Most patients experience moderate discomfort. If the treatment is too uncomfortable, our physician can numb the area with local anesthesia, at no additional cost to you.

Q. How Long Does It Take?
Depending on the size, color(s), and location of the tattoo - each treatment session usually takes about 5 to 20 minutes. You can expect to have a treatment every six to eight weeks. This gives your body sufficient time to fully eliminate loosened particles of ink and heal. Older or faintly colored tattoos may fade completely with just one treatment. However, most tattoos require a minimum of 5-treatments to be successfully removed.

Q. Are There Any Side Effects?
Because the laser beam does not penetrate beyond the skin, side effects are rare. When side effects do occur, they are usually mild and confined to the treatment area. Redness, swelling and blistering can occur, but these are temporary effects that can be minimized with the use of cold compresses. Scarring is rare, especially when post treatment instructions are followed.

Q. What Are The Alternative Treatments?
Laser tattoo removal is considered the best way to safely remove an unwanted tattoo. Other alternatives such as surgical excision, electric or infrared cauterization (burns the skin), salabrasion (using abrasion and salt to remove layers of skin), and aggressive chemical peels (chemically removes layers of skin) may result in irreversible scarring and discoloration of the skin. These alternate methods can also be quite painful.

Q. How much does it cost?
The following prices are single treatment prices, based on the longest dimension of the tattoo. Value packages are available. Please contact our office.
